OHSAS 18001
OHSAS 18001 is the latest certification specification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. The OHSAS 18001 standard specifies the requirements of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
It has been formulated to be applicable to all types and sizes of companies and to accommodate diverse geographical, cultural and social conditions. Industries of all kinds, such as agriculture, automotive, chemical, energy, farming, footwear, forestry, mining, petroleum, and others can benefit from improving the management of their health & safety aspects, but those with high risks tend to be primary users of this standard. OHSAS 18001 certification is aimed at the way a company has control over, and knowledge of, all relevant risks resulting from normal operations and abnormal situations. If complied with, OHSAS 18001 offers a solution to the ever increasing challenges facing most organizations due to high injury and illness, lost work days, increasing occupational health and safety regulations, large citations/penalties, rising worker’s compensation costs, costly medical claims, worker retention and employee satisfaction.
